Propranolol: The Drug That Everyone Will Be On

Definition of [Picrotoxin Procaine] Propranolol (from Wikipedia)

Propranolol (INN) is a sympatholytic non-selective beta blocker. Sympatholytics are used to treat hypertension, anxiety and panic. It was the first successful beta blocker developed. Propranolol is available in generic form as propranolol hydrochloride, as well as an AstraZeneca and Wyeth product under the brand names Inderal, Inderal LA, Avlocardyl, Deralin, Dociton, Inderalici, InnoPran XL, Sumial, Anaprilinum, Bedranol SR (Sandoz).
Propranolol is one of the banned substances in the Olympics.

I did a quick search and came up with the below yahoo link; sure enough, Propranolol seems to be being pushed as a possible, new, "anti-racism" drug. Since "racism" is purely a matter of opinion and preference that's perpetuated by developmental environments and culture, I thought this was ridiculous. To say it's a "cure for racism" is to say "it's a cure for opinion and preference that's perpetuated by developmental environment and culture."

Deciding I should share this new-to-me information with you all here at ATS, I logged on and did a quick search. What I found has somewhat stopped my train of thought and made me consider the what-if possibility that this new drug, Propranolol is being pushed for another reason? What reason? Consider the following threads:

Now think about the fact that the drug, Picrotoxin Procaine Propranolol was developed in the 1960's right around the time LSD was receiving a great deal of political heat, leading to LSD's prohibition. The CIA was working with LSD for mind-control techniques, most notably within the MK-Ultra Project. The guy who first synthesized Propranolol received the Nobel Peace Prize for his discovery.

Now, my mind's reeling with the notion that this drug, could be coaxed into public awareness and approval through the consistent propagation of racism through the media. America's had it's first black president and racism is still "rampant" and "uncontrollable." This mindset could lead people to believe the drug is okay and that once it's approved for it's specific use, and not diluted or used within other pre-approved drugs, it could cause a multitude of problems within society.

The idea of altering ones memories is not a new idea, as disclosed in this Wall Street Journal Article:

Now; the fact that it's being toted as a way to create the "Soldier of the Future" by allowing them to stay psychologically distant from the battlefield.

What are your thoughts on Propranolol?
Why do you think it's being described to treat so many different 'afflictions'?
Why do you think it's received so much funding to test it again and again on different 'problems'?
